The study area is located within the bauxite province of eastern India, Odisha. The originally granted lease area is 428.2 ha. Geovale Services in the year 2019 carried out geological mapping (1:4,000) and surface sampling (45 samples), monitored drilling, carried out logging (978.70 m), core sampling (978.70 m) and resource estimation.
Geovale’s Exploration Plan
- Geological mapping involved the creation of detailed maps at a 1:4000 scale, correlating to regional features, to identify high- and low-potential zones. This included drawing sections, with all maps and sections being submitted to the client using Mapinfo and ArcGIS software.
- The drilling process commenced with clearing the drill site, preparing the drill pad and access road, and ensuring their rehabilitation by the drill contractor. This stage also involved placing drill rigs as per the planned and pre-surveyed locations. Daily monitoring of core drilling was carried out, with a Management Information System (MIS) format adopted for daily reporting and payment arrangements.
- Geological and geotechnical logging, along with hydrological observations, was noted, along with structural features and metallurgical aspects. The sample scheme was managed thoroughly, from marking the sample drawl, monitoring sample preparation, ensuring proper preservation, and photographing samples to enforcing Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) standards.
- Topographical surveys were conducted using DGPS for drill holes, focusing on closing errors. The results, including the string file and Digital Terrain Model (DTM), were submitted to the client in the required format.
- Preparation of maps and sections was done, which adhered to GR and resource estimations according to the United Nations Framework Classification (UNFC) guidelines. Resource modelling was conducted using software tools such as Datamine, Vulcan, or Surpac.
- The geological report preparation was at the G2 (UNFC) level, complying with the MEC Rule 2015 and Auction Rule 2015.
Conclusion
Geovale successfully developed and implemented comprehensive exploration management plans tailored to their client's requirements. They efficiently executed geological mapping, drilling, and topographical survey tasks, ensuring precision and adherence to Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC) standards. Overall, Geovale's meticulous approach and adherence to regulatory guidelines ensured the delivery of high-quality and compliant geological reports and exploration data.
