He aptly pointed out that the problems overcapacity, raw material sourcing, high cost of electricity which were affecting the Indian ferro-alloy industry more than a decade ago, are still creating issues even today. As a result the industry which supplies an important ingredient to the steel making industry is facing huge losses.

While suggesting possible measures to revive the condition of India’s ferro-alloy industry, Mr Sen highlighted the example of steel industry. He illustrated how some successful steel producers who do not have any captive source of raw material grew profitably with heightened focus on productivity improvement and R&D. He explained the possible strategies which the Indian ferro-alloy industry should adopt in this turbulent time to survive and grow.
