Mine Hydrogeology and Numerical modelling of aquifers in Eastern India

Mine Hydrogeology and Numerical modelling of aquifers in Eastern India

The client is starting a new coal mine and wants to understand the impacts of mining operations to the groundwater system, hydro-geological and hydro-geochemical impact to the surface water and groundwater system, recommendations for long term mine dewatering strategy, groundwater management and water balance and conduct a high level conceptual study on water conservation at the surrounding area.

The key stages were-

  • Project Planning, Desktop Study, CMPDIL Report Review, Geology, Geomorphology, Wet Lands, Watershed, Remote Sensing
  • Field data collection: water level (pre and post monsoon), GW flow, seasonal fluctuations, GW/Surface Water sample collection
  • VES Survey
  • Water Quality Analysis – Standard parameters, metals; GW/Surface Water suitability analysis
  • Aquifer Characterization – pumping test of 4 – 6 wells
  • Water and Environmental management, water footprint study and Water Balance
  • Numerical Modelling for groundwater management
